This was not what I thought it would be (and that is probably my fault) - I thought it was a twin bucket so you can rinse and have your wash water remain cleaner. It is not. The second partition is to remove excess water from the microfibre cloth. You need to take are not to force the mop harshly in the spaces provided. All that said the mop worked well on my wood floors.
