Surprisingly, seems to work. My phone usually says "charging slowly" on USB. But with this, it blocked data and turned to "charging". We measured the current with a device, it seemed to be about 1.2 amps off my computer. However one of my colleagues got a Windows error saying the usb port is malfunctioning and drawing too much power, after some time. Windows shut down the port and he had to reboot to restart it.

I thought this would be the solution to keeping a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 charged while the display is on for a long time, like when using maps, but no joy. It still discharges faster than it charges (yes, even with the LED on red as in the instructions).
