This little thing makes all the difference in a small room where you can't have tables all over the place. The tray is very stable and fits different width of armrests. The little rim around the edge can catch minor spills. The felt/fabric on the back helps protect the armrest fabric and isn't too slippery for leather/vinyl armrests. After trying a couple out for the cottage, I got a couple for the house as well.

It's got a nice weight / feel to it. The springs hold it in place on our sofa arm. Makes a convenient rest on the side of the couch where there is no space to place a side table. Since our sofa arm is a little narrower than the tray, the arms do not hold it rigidly in place. The tray will shift to the side if pressure is applied but remains fairly level.

Fits my chair perfectly. However, the legs have very sharp corners and should be rounded. It gave me a bad scratch with how sharp it was. Considering your legs could easily be near this, be careful. I need to sand mine for safety.
