Ultimate Buying Guide In CanadaGeneral informationPower adapters for Apple notebooks are available in 45W, 60W, and 85W varieties. You should use the appropriate wattage power adapter for your Apple notebook. You can use a compatible higher wattage adapter without issue, but it won't make your computer charge faster or operate differently. Lower wattage adapters will not provide enough power. Our compatible MS power adapters have two pieces: The connector and adapter, and the AC plug or "duckhead." A replacement adapter may not be the same size, color, shape, or wattage as the original adapter that came with your computer. It should however power and charge your Mac like the adapter that originally came with your computer.
MacBook Connector TypesThere are two different types of connector for the Apple MacBook: the MS 1 connector and the MS 2 connector. The main difference between the two is the appearance, in that the MS 2 connector has a thinner/smaller connecting piece. The idea behind this change was to house the power connection component for the MacBook into a smaller package, which would leave more room for components and also allow for a thinner overall design of the MacBook.
